I just thought the portions left a lot to be desired. Meal was less than satisfying. They were pretty good and got everyone up dancing, so it had a good vibe to it. The chicken was so dry it became a gluey paste, the sides were inedible; Corn was seemingly from an experiment for intact dehydration and the rice was punishment by granular parchment. We ordered a couple of the huge platters to share along with with Mac and Cheese and corn bread. My worst fear is someone leaving here hungry.
Ordered a Caesar to drink and it was very tasty, was thicker and not watery like some other Caesars. The crab cakes were good but I found a little pricey. Hi Stormy, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. And then the table we got was wobbly and that makes it even harder with a kid that may bang on table and I have drinks on it. Rated If I was rating just the appetizers, this place would get 5 stars!! Service was amazing, and they were quick! Rated My favourite restaurant in Calgary! Fun place, good atmosphere but just ok food. We went to Bookers with another family celebrating a couple birthdays. The food arrived super fast except they forgot our Mac and cheese.
The kids had to have their Mac and cheese. We shared some wings and crab cakes. I can't believe the flavours out of that. I am pregnant and have an awful aversion to it. Rated Decided to try Bookers for yycburgerbattle.
Chicken was ordered with two sides; corn-on-the-cob and rice. Which leads me to a few observations. They wanted a restaurant lounge that celebrated southern cooking, bbq and seafood, something Calgary didn't have yet. The burger was missing the pork cracklings and deep fried pickle that were said to be on it. Overall, it was an ok experience.
. Burnt ends were over-warmed leftovers, the ribs were borderline. Great day for patio cocktails! He said it was good. A huge shout out to our waitress Katya, I have had her the last two times I was there and she makes you feel like family. We requested no onion with our mac and cheese.
Feel free to reach out. Everyday, the well-seasoned barbecue chefs smoke over 200 pounds of local Alberta chicken, beef and pork to keep us hungry Calgarians at bay. After driving by Bookers and seeing the 'rough around the edges' building, I had a good feeling it was somewhere I needed to check out! Bookers wasn't that busy when we were there, but the environment is very nice and open. I would also like to Say that Brandon goes out of his way to make sure everyone there is happy with their experience. Rated I can see the appeal but it didn't add up.
Not a single thing tasted bad. It had tons of food that was all delicious. Beans, coleslaw, rice, potatoes, excellent ribs and the best crab ever. Pull pork was good but just overshadowed by the rib. Service was slow, food was cold, orders were wrong. The bun, although tasty, did not hold together and made for a messy ordeal. Firstly, I have never enjoyed the service, the staff seem rushed and generally unhappy.
The flavours all worked well together but the fat on the porchetta wasn't rendered enough so it was chewy and slightly off-putting. I understand inflation and the exorbitant costs of all food things related with Calgary. It's not often we order dessert but we all saved room to try something out. But to top it all off. We learned after our meal arrived that this was unavailable? Prices are too high and they aren't that happy if you have Groupons or other discount coupons. I sat at the bar and Sarah was friendly and overall service was excellent. The server should tell customers that there is lot of food on the plate and it could be shared.
Hailey was our waitress and she was very attentive to our every need. I ordered the fried shrimp po boy. We got snow crab and it was small and rubbery, the waitress suggested the Shrimp and Grits, it was terrible!! The host staff minded their own business but didnt seem the most friendly either. Left a detailed review and sent an email to the restaurant. Definitely not as enjoyable as warm melted butter with my crab.
The service was mediocre and slow and the manager was not friendly with our questions and concerns. Decided to bring my niece from out of town and was disappointed. In the snow crab entrée there were only 7oz snow crab, potatoes, corn and 4 pieces of shrimps. Took a while before someone acknowledged that we were seated. The servers are nice and the food is fantastic! Menu has changed, plastic page with quality of a high end Denny's. After reading this review I have spoken with my team and we agree we need to give a better description of the crab shack poutine because we agree, it is not traditional and we don't want to disappoint; that being said, please come back and try the brisket poutine. Would definitely go back again.
